So now the tobacco has been sold to the companies, it now has to go through the process of being chemically treated (there is only 0.8mg of nicotine in a cigarette compared with the 10 mg of Carbon Monoxide) and made to “taste nice” for the consumer. It then is packaged and sent to the supermarkets.
Around 5,000 people are employed in the tobacco industry in the UK. But how do companies get people to know about their brands? How much profit do you think they make? Do you think they are right to complain about the smoking ban? But most importantly, are they exploiting the farmers and their workforce?
